Momentum Auto Group Temporarily Closes to Transition to New Ownership Amid California Wildfires

Momentum Auto Group

In the wake of complications from California’s most destructive wildfire in history, Momentum Auto Group will temporarily close and transition to new ownership

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, November 20, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Camp Fire is proving to be one of the most disastrous and deadly fires ever to hit the state, though wildfires have raged on and off in California for years. Repairs to residential and commercial buildings alike will cost millions, and the hunt for missing persons displaced during the fire is far from over. Over 70 lives have been taken by the disaster so far as well as numerous businesses.

As the fire spread through dry areas, it took homes and buildings down in its path, causing as much trouble for commercial enterprises as local residents. Momentum Auto Group, with 9 dealer locations in Solano County, was greatly affected by the fires and have determined it was best to temporarily close and transition to new ownership.

Momentum Auto Group contributes hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars in tax pay, making it an incremental business in the Solano County area. The group is one of the largest payers of sales tax in the county, at an average of $15 million annually. Momentum Auto Group is also one of the largest payroll tax payers in Solano County, at an average of $7.5 million annually.

While wildfires weren’t the only cause of a temporary close and transition to new ownership, their effects across the dealership chain were major deciding factors. Because of extremely poor air quality associated with the Camp Fire, both sales personnel and technicians have been unable to perform their duties. As the fires raged on, less people were concerned with vehicle purchases, a major deviation from the normally lucrative season. Consumers didn’t practice normal buying patterns due to the poor and unhealthy air quality, costing the dealerships a large loss in revenue.

In addition to the effects of the fire, an instrumental lender to Momentum Auto Group filed for bankruptcy this past summer, which also affected the group’s financial situation. Construction has been halted for ten months at their largest dealership due to city of Fairfield permits, and this has put a severe dent in consumer traffic within the dealership, significantly impacting revenue for the worst.

Due to the revenue losses caused by the Camp Fire, and in conjunction with the above-mentioned circumstances, Momentum Auto Group decided that it was best to temporarily close their doors and transition to new ownership. The group is confident that new ownership will successfully lift Momentum Auto Group from present circumstances and overcome the hardships caused by the California Camp Fire.

Website that Significantly Reduces Customer Service Requests; is Comprehensive and Easy-to-Use Created by Design Center

Design Center recently completed a comprehensive, easy-to-use website for BASF that, among other benefits, significantly reduces customer service requests.

We really worked with them to ensure that we were integrating end user, admin and IT needs into a comprehensive solution.”

— Design Center Marketing Director Chris Cornejo

ST. PAUL, MINN., U.S., November 20, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ — Design Center recently completed a comprehensive, easy-to-use website for BASF that, among other benefits, significantly reduces customer service requests. After creating several highly successful mobile apps, this new project was for BASF’s Automotive Refinish division.
The Automotive Refinish Division wanted an industry-exclusive website that was more up-to-date and user-friendly than their current site. Per BASF, “Every word, every image and every tool on the Refinish site needed to be created with the customer in mind.”
BASF worked closely with Design Center’s design and development team, which included Marketing Director Chris Comejo. “They came to us for a website that would require a login so they could distribute a significant amount of material to body shops and dealers,” he said. “It was mostly an access, navigation and asset strategy issue with their existing site.”
The website was confusing and not built for a streamlined browsing experience. BASF also wanted to reduce customer service requests—people would get frustrated with the website and then call—creating a burden on the customer service department.
One of the complicating factors was that there are four different brands within the Automotive Refinish division. The site was hosting material for all four brands—and it was there, but no one could find it. The site also had to be region specific and translated into three languages.
“We really worked with them to ensure that we were integrating end user, admin and IT needs into a comprehensive solution,” Comejo said. “We utilized our app creation process; approaching it from a user’s point of view. The idea was to create a working tool, not just a marketing tool.”
The Design Center team conducted interviews with some of the client’s website users in an effort to discern what information they were seeking, where they were looking for it and whether or not they were successful.
Design Center built the site using WordPress, incorporating custom features as needed. An example is a dual site backend so that BASF could easily manage this site and a subsequent site through the same portal. The end result was a user-friendly website with structured categories for all four brands that makes it easy for users to find what they need quickly.
The new site is mobile-optimized with updated images and content and unique tools. One of these tools is an “asset cart”, which can be used in conjunction with the advanced product catalog or independently. Visitors can add assets to the cart from anyplace on the website, not just from product pages. They then have the option to download all cart contents or email them to anyone.
Users can filter the product catalog based on country, brand, paint system, product type, volatile organic compounds, and keywords, or they can simply scroll through BASF products. The site also includes technical manuals, technical data sheets, safety data sheets and is available in three languages.
“We've received tremendously positive feedback from both our internal team as well as our customers,” the client said. “Design Center has made it much easier for users to access critical information within our highly competitive industry, which has significantly increased customer satisfaction. Despite the complex nature of our requirements, Design Center has managed to create a clean, leading-edge and user-friendly website. They have been a godsend for our division.”
One of the outcomes was a reduction in call center activity, which has gone down significantly.
Design Center President Ken Haus said, “BASF is an excellent client. They recognize that we are good at what we do and they let us do our job. They put a lot of faith in us and are always very enthusiastic about what we are doing.”

Auto/Mate’s Annual User Summit Draws Record Number of Customer Attendees and Sponsors

We got numerous unsolicited comments from customers on how great our employees are, how much they love doing business with us and how happy they are to be an Auto/Mate customer”

— Mike Esposito, president and CEO of Auto/Mate

ALBANY, NY, UNITED STATES, November 19, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ — Auto/Mate’s annual User Summit in San Antonio was its most successful to date. The three-day event offered 145 Auto/Mate customers a variety of workshops, presentations, and training sessions designed to help them better utilize their dealership management system (DMS) and increase productivity. Representatives from seventeen exhibitors and sponsors also attended the event, along with twenty staff from Auto/Mate.

“As much as we’ve come to expect it, the extent to which our customer base loves us still wows us,” said Mike Esposito, president and CEO of Auto/Mate. “We got numerous unsolicited comments from customers on how great our employees are, how much they love doing business with us and how happy they are to be an Auto/Mate customer. Hiring ‘car people’ really matters.”

Standout sessions included previews of software updates in the pipeline, as well as demonstrations of Auto/Mate’s newest updates and features; most notably the parts program, e-signature capture, AMPS mobile and cashiering.

“I enjoyed every segment I attended and learned something new in each one. It was a great time to meet fellow dealers and learn from them as well,” said Walt Sicard, President of Walt Sicard Car Company. “The Auto/Mate team was awesome as always. This was a very informative and enjoyable event.”

A highlight of the User Summit was the keynote from Larry Schlagheck with WardsAuto. The presentation, titled Dealers Selling Autonomous Vehicles: When is it Really Going to Happen, summarized data from a recent WardsAuto study. According to Schlagheck, the year 2030 is a more realistic timeframe than many current projections for 2020, to expect fully autonomous vehicles to meet safety standards and be available for consumers to purchase.

Other highlights of the event included sponsored happy hours, meals and other networking opportunities for Auto/Mate’s dealership customers.

Auto/Mate’s User Summit would not have been possible without support from the following exhibitors and sponsors: WardsAuto, RouteOne, Kimoby, AIB, DealerOps, etfile, DocuBizz, ScanIt Parts, Halo Branded Solutions, Great America Financial Services, 700 Credit, Darwin Automotive, CARFAX, Traffic Control CRM, Worldpay, Scan123, Bluebird Auto Rental Systems, Northeast Auto Inventories and One View.

“This conference was outstanding as it brought the dealers, DMS vendor and third-party vendors together to share ideas and visions that help everyone better serve their customers,” said Michael Kinnear, Account Executive with Scan123. “This is a must attend event!”

Auto/Mate’s next Customer User Summit will take place in the fall of 2019. For more information email usersummit@automate.com.

The Job Auction

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, US, November 14, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ — Consider what you assume 'The Job Auction' to be for a second and ten times out of ten, its chief function will be obvious. It’s a website concerned with auctioning jobs.

It’s a notion so straightforward it mystifies the mind when you consider that it’s the first site of its kind. That isn’t to say, however, that The Job Auction shies away from its honest categorisation as a jobs board. Recruiters can post jobs with frozen salaries and working hours and sift through applicants in a similar manner to most garden variety jobsites, thus removing the need for negotiation.

Nevertheless, the site’s elevation above its competitors comes from the idiosyncratic appeal of auctions themselves. To understand why auctions are timeless is to understand how The Job Auction’s potential is boundless. The site actively promotes negotiations with both the prospective employee and employer able to agree on a price and then hash out the specifics once the gavel is down.

Users are also able to auction themselves, advertising their skill sets to those that require those skills for contracted employment. This role-reversal demonstrates how interchangeable the parts are on this site are and is emblematic of The Job Auction’s fluidity, with buyer becoming seller and vice versa.

Available in 35 countries (as of writing this), it should come as no surprise that this brand intends to be a global success. It’s this reach that attracts some simply to market their business through the site. Simply another way The Job Auction is a jack-of-all-trades and the quintessential modern professional’s jobsite.

Be it a skill, job or career, it can be auctioned, bid for and bought by anyone. Users can even advertise specific tasks, reducing the money one may have to commit whilst concurrently managing the time of the worker. An exceptional tool for freelancers particularly, the Tasks option is an efficient and relatively new addition to the site, proving TJA’s willingness to evolve.

There is a sense as one navigates the site, that the power has been bestowed fully to The JA’s users. Communicative tools like private messaging allow this marketplace of jobs to flourish. Participation itself seems to heighten business acumen as the agreement you reach is a product of the user’s willingness to bid and engage with other users.

TJA offers sufficient aid in the form of their CV Clinic where those using the site can tweak their CVs under the gentle and easy-to-use tutelage of the site itself.

It became apparent as I traversed and scouted the plethora of options each auction comes with and how personalised the whole site feels. Professionally speaking, if you know what you want, The Job Auction gives you a platform to go and get it.

Think Silicon Completes Ambitious 2.5 Year Plan with the Successful Finalization of the EU Funded GPU-WEAR Project

This worthwhile effort required a multidisciplinary design methodology spanning circuits, architectural, compiler, and API-level power efficient techniques to work in a seamless fashion.”

— Dr. Georgios Keramidas CSO of Think Silicon and GPU-WEAR project lead

PATRAS, GREECE, November 15, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ — Think Silicon, a leader in ultra-low power graphics IP technology, announced the completion of an ambitious 2.5 year plan with the culmination of an array of innovative ultra-low power Graphics-Processing-Unit (GPU) IP-technology, together with a complete ecosystem of development-tools. Key highlights for the company include filing 10 international patents (six granted, four pending) and extending the sales channel in Europe, North America, Taiwan and Japan. The impressive project goals, established in 2015, resulted in numerous exhibits at major trade events such as the International Consumer Electronics Show, Mobile World Congress, Embedded World and executive speaking opportunities at the Synopsys ARC Processor Summit, Linley Processor Conference 2017, HiPEAC 2018, DATE Conference, and many more.

“To reach a meaningful impact-level of ultra-low power consumption, required by Wearable, IoT and Embedded Display devices, represents a technological challenge”, says Dr. Georgios Keramidas CSO of Think Silicon and GPU-WEAR project lead. “This worthwhile effort required a multidisciplinary design methodology spanning circuits, architectural, compiler, and API-level power efficient techniques to work in a seamless fashion. We are very thankful for the support of the European Union’s ‘Horizon 2020’ Research and Innovation Programme.”

During the Horizon 2020 program, Think Silicon achieved a variety of technology achievements including:
● Holistic power reduction techniques
The main objective of the project was to develop holistic power reduction techniques by reducing power not only on ASICs (Chip) level, but also for the entire system (Display device). To achieve this, the company developed and implemented multiple techniques, such as value- memorization, new image/texture/z-buffer compression methods, smart clock gating, power gating, and adaptive backlighting.

● Transparent “display-aware” and “QoS-aware” graphics libraries
One of the biggest challenges that graphics application developers face is the lag of transparency accessing graphics libraries. Think Silicon implemented a “Run-time system” in the GPU driver as well as a QoS (Quality-of-Service) extension to graphics APIs. In addition, the cross-platform middleware GLOVE™ has been developed, which translates at runtime, OpenGL® ES / EGL calls and ESSL shaders to Vulkan® commands and SPIR-V Shader.

● NEMA®|SDK
As an essential toolbox for developers to develop power-aware yet still high-performance software applications for Wearable, IoT and Embedded display devices, NEMA®|SDK is a complete ecosystem of tools providing the utmost access to the GPU hardware. The NEMA®|SDK tool-box is comprised of six tools: NEMA®|GFX-API, NEMA®|GUI-Builder, NEMA®|Bits, NEMA®|PIX-Presso, NEMA®|SHADER-Edit and GLOVE™.

● Heterogeneous GPU
NEMA®|tS (tiny-small) helps to achieve an optimal combination of power-performance load balancing.

● NEMA®|xNN
Because Machine Learning and Deep Neural Networks (DNN) are complexity intensive models that require vast processing power, NEMA®|xNN was developed to address the 1000x gap (in terms of power and/or performance) compared to what competitive solutions offer.

Think Silicon has been recognized by global news outlets including Electronics Weekly, Packt, Microcontroller Tips, Programmable Web, the prestigious John Peddie Research and many more. Additional news about Think Silicon is available online at https://think-silicon.com/category/news/.
