Swissbit introduces 128 MB MMC

Multimedia Cards: Obsolete in consumer markets, urgently sought after by industrial markets, and supplied by Swissbit with their M-120 solution.

Swissbit introduces a brand new 128 MB MMC named M-120 that extends the availability of low density products at the other end of the capacity scale.

BRONSCHHOFEN, ST. GALLEN, SWITZERLAND, June 22, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ — The race is on for the highest density SD memory cards. Consumer products with 512 GB can be purchased online, and even higher densities are coming to market. Swissbit is now pleased to announce the introduction of a brand new 128 MB Multimedia Card (MMC) named M-120 that extends the availability of low density products at the other end of the capacity scale. For Swissbit this is just another consistent step towards fulfilling its commitment for highest customer service.

Multimedia cards are similar to SD memory cards and are compatible with SD card slots. The reverse is not possible since MMCs have a thickness of 1.4mm while SD memory cards use a 2.1mm housing. A lot of industrial applications like train control or automation systems have been designed with MMC slots and require the thinner package for maintenance replacement.

With the new M-120 Swissbit prolongs the availability of an industrial grade MMC up to 2021 and offers extended support beyond this date. The capacity of 128MB is more than sufficient for the applications that typically run from the media. M-120 uses high-quality SLC NAND and is available with extended and industrial temperature grades between -40° and 85°C. The card supports MMC and SPI burst mode according to MMC card specification 3.31. The M-120 has been developed for embedded applications using Swissbit’s COB process which integrates the silicon dies in a fully molded package. This creates a highly robust and environmentally sealed package.
M-120 is available in mass production.
